I create contemporary abstract art by making marks on cotton, silk and paper. That may involve dyeing, dye painting, screening with dye, discharge dyeing, stamping and other processes needed to express my ideas. Layering creates a most interesting surface and can even be a way of reclaiming something that previously may have gone awry. I am a bit of a purist, preferring to make my own cloth as the integral part of my artistic expression. I also work intuitively, preferring serendipity to planning and details. Life has enough planning. In my artwork, there is a lot of play.
